| California Artist Jessica Breed I was born in Berkeley, California, and grew up in Northern California. I moved to Southern California in 1973. In my early forties I became an artistic late bloomer when I decided to take a decorative painting class. It was a class that would change my life. For a year I painted lovely gifts and learned about decorative painting mostly on wood pieces. I began creating my own pieces. I found painting a wonderful rewarding experience. Soon I found myself in classes at the Athenaeum School for the Arts, learning from such talented artists as Ken Goldman and Cal Fortbrook. I began to realize that this was "the calling" I had always been waiting to hear. For several years I studied portraiture with Perrieta Hester, and Gifford Nicholaides. I have also had workshops with Daniel Green, and Ned Meuller. The more I study the more I want to know and expand. I am currently working on becoming proficient in oils and studying art at a local college. |

I love creating images that are full of life and color, images that evoke feelings and delight the eye. At times I venture into the realm of more abstract /surreal type work, as a break from the realistic portrait style that I enjoy.
I do portrait commissions currently on a limited basis as my education continues. If you are interested in a commission please email me: |
